Concert-play shows vocalist, composer

Concert-play featuring two distinguished names in Persian classical music is set be performed in Iranian capital city of Tehran.

The concert-cum-play ‘Thirty’ is a collaboration of Homayoun Shajarian and Sohrab Pournazeri to be on stage August at Sadabad Complex in Tehran.

The play is based on three stories from the Shahnameh by Iran iconic classical poet Ferdowsi. The theatrical work is written by Naghmeh Samini and directed by Asghar Dashti with Amir-Hossein Mahouzi’s dramaturgy.

Due to positive audience reception, two extra shows added on August 11 and 13 for ‘Thirty’, a local media report said on Saturday.  

With sold-out performances, the concert-cum-play ‘Thirty’ serves as a testament to the power of theatrical collaboration in Iran.

Both performed at various international venues, Homayoun Shajarian and Sohrab Pournazeri are active in Persian classical music with the former being a vocalist and the latter a composer.
